MORE than 50 runners have been braving the wind, rain (and snow!) as part of a marathon team effort for Chase hospice care for children.
During the past 10 years, Chase Flora London Marathon runners have raised over £1 million for the charity.
This year, the Chase team has brought together runners from across South West London, Surrey and Sussex, who have all been training hard for the big event on Sunday April 13.
Flying the flag for the Star area, are Lin Ward and Brian Holden from Mytchett, and Norma Dudley and Julie Martin from Farnborough.
Brian Holden, of Coleford Bridge Road, has been training for the marathon with his Mytchett neighbour, Lin Ward. A project worker at Qinetiq in Farnborough, Mr Holden said he chose to run for Chase because the smaller charities often get left out at big national events.
He said: “I ran the Flora London Marathon last year for the national charity Diabetes UK, so this year I decided to focus my attention on a deserving cause closer to home.
“We are hoping to raise as much as possible to help Chase reach its target, and carry on its important work supporting families with life-limited children and young people.”
