Street dancers win for Rushmoor

A GROUP of youngsters from Aldershot and Farnborough excelled in their first-ever dance competition by taking the entertainment crown at a Dance for Life event held at The Farnham Maltings.
The Rushmoor Healthy Living Street Dance group (pictured above), who practice at Connaught Leisure Centre in Aldershot, got first place in the entertainment category and came runners-up in the originality of concept category.
The aim of the event, which had been organised by the British Red Cross, was to unite young performers in a celebration of dance.
The groups were marked on choreography, music, costume, originality of concept, entertainment and diversity of the dance.
The youngsters, who call themselves the Rushmoor Revolution Dance Squad, performed two routines and competed against seven other groups ranging from schools to professional dance academies.
The Street Dance classes are part of Rushmoor Healthy Living’s Looking Good Feeling Good programme.
Anyone interested in joining the street dance group can call Keri Stanton on 01252 362660.
