Shape up with new courses

SCHOOLS and colleges across the Star area are shaping up to offer four new vocational diplomas.
The Creative and Media, and Business, Administration and Finance diplomas will be offered in Surrey Heath from 2009 thanks to a successful bid to the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) by SHAPE – Surrey Heath Area Partnership for Education.
SHAPE comprises Collingwood College, Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form, Kings International College for Business and the Arts, Gordon’s School, Carwarden House School, Portesbery School and Farnborough College of Technology.
The consortium has already been given the opportunity to deliver the IT and Society, Health and Development Diplomas, which will be taught from September 2008.
SHAPE’s delighted chairman, Jerry Oddie, Principal of Collingwood College, said: “The new courses will significantly extend opportunities for young people in Surrey Heath.”
The diplomas will be offered to students aged 14 to 19, at three levels – Foundation, Higher and Advanced.
