More help for youngsters

YOUNG people in Camberley are set to have improved access to services with the appointment of a new youth worker.
Ciaran Cleasby will be based at the Old Dean Youth Centre on Kingston Road, Camberley.
He is responsible for SCC youth provision on the Old Dean estate, in Heatherside and in Camberley, including the Safer Surrey Heath Partnership-funded Youth Café on the High Street.
Ciaran has joined the Surrey County Council Youth Development Service from the Cheshire Youth Service, where he spent four years as a youth development officer. Before that, he was a youth worker in Hampshire for 10 years.
Ciaran said: “My vision is to provide a range of activities for young people 13 to 19 in the local area to participate in which are both fun and promote their learning and wellbeing.”
He is looking into providing new youth drop-in sessions, sports, arts and creative projects, as well as health-related drop-ins with the support of health staff.
The Old Dean Youth Centre was recently kitted out with new sports equipment, including a pool table, thanks to the efforts of neighbourhood PCSO Kelly Wootton
