Kana raises care cash

A KEEN Japanese runner who aims to take part in the London Marathon has been busy raising sponsorship – from selling cakes to playing the piano.
Kana Segawa, 29, of Kingston Road, Camberley,  is running to raise funds for the Surrey Care Trust.
To boost her sponsorship, a cake sale was organised at High Cross Church on Saturday.
Kana, an accomplished piano player, entertained visitors to the event.
She is in Britain on a two-year contract with Toshiba, for whom she works as an engineer.
At home in Tokyo she has taken part in several runs including a 30k race, and has enjoyed watching the London event on TV. This will be her first marathon but she has not been up to the capital to look at the course yet.
Her training has been regular - “I go our running four or five times a week,” she said.
Since coming to England she said she uses her car more often, eats English food which “is not as healthy as Japanese food” and says she needs the exercise.
Notwithstanding, she admits she is not too keen on returning to Japan in May because she likes life in England too much.
“But I have a boyfriend back home, so I will be returning,” she said.
Kana is supporting the Surrey-based charity because it  is a local charity supporting local people and communities, she said.
