I was happy to read the letter from P J Majewski (Star letters April 10) confirming the facts in my letter of March 27 that we came to the aid of Poland in 1939 via our treaty obligations, but saddened to see his/her statement “no material aid was forthcoming” and “Britain was unable to fulfil its guarantee of 1939”.

In our report Testing Time For Pilots, Star March 20, about the launch of a book on the RAE At War by Richard Dennis, we described Don Minterne as a former WWII test pilot. We have been informed by reader Geoffrey Hiscott that Mr Minterne was an RAE apprentice at the same time as author Richard Dennis but not a test pilot.
